Go To God
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 20th of September, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
We go to the Book of Psalms 32:8:
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”
Then we go straight to 1 Corinthians 6:1:
“Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?”
That is quite a stern rebuke, isn’t it? “Why do we go to the system of the world for justice when we will one day be judging the angels?” is what Paul writes just a little bit further on. I want to tell you a true story that is quite amazing. You can read it in 1 Kings 3:16.
There were two harlots who were living in one house. They were both pregnant. They both had babies within a couple of days of each other. One night, when they were sleeping, the one mother rolled over by mistake on top of her little baby boy and smothered him. So she got up in the middle of the night and took the dead baby and put it next to the other mother with the live baby, and she took the live baby into her bed.
When they woke up in the morning, the mother of the live baby realised that the dead baby was not actually her baby. Now they had a predicament because the other mother said, “No, the dead baby is not mine,” but it was. They didn’t know what to do. So eventually they went to Solomon. They did not go to the system of the world, they went to the man of God and they told the story to him. Two women, two babies, one dead and the other alive, both of them claiming that the baby that was alive was theirs, and the other one that had died belonged to the other woman.
Solomon sat with a predicament, so what did he do? He said, “Bring me a sharp sword and what I will do is cut the live baby in half, and then you can have half each.” Well, the mother of the dead baby said to the king, “That is equal and that is justice and that is fine,” but the mother of the live baby said, “No! Please King, give the live baby to the other woman.” And then Solomon said, “The mother of this baby is the one who was concerned that her baby should live and the other woman was the one who had the dead baby.”
Now folks, that is quite profound, isn’t it? And that is in the Bible. Please, I want to encourage you as the Lord is encouraging me this morning. Take your problems to God. Take your situation to another man of God, woman of God, and ask them to help you to do the just thing.
