Attitude

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
— Philippians 4:13

What a beautiful promise for you and me this morning, from the Lord. I looked up the word: attitude - attitude is a settled way of thinking or feeling.

Do you remember the adage: Your attitude determines your altitude? This COVID-19 has robbed so many people of their self-confidence, their hope, their joy and their dreams. We need to get back to focusing on what Jesus says about us!

"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

I watched a movie about a young 18-year-old girl, a true story. She was a barrel-racer. Do you know what that means? She rides a horse at the rodeo - she comes out at the start line, at a full gallop and does a figure eight around the barrels and back to the finish line, wait for it - in 15 seconds!

So this is specialized horse riding. She was on her way to becoming the world champ and what happened? She had a terrible car crash and was paralyzed from the waist downwards. Her whole life collapsed in an instant - but she did not give up. She got up on that horse, eventually, after many months and with no leg control at all, just a safety belt around the saddle and her waist, that young girl started riding again.

Not only did she ride again, but she also started competing and eventually got to the USA Finals. There is a word for somebody this morning, listening to this little message. God says clearly to you today - it is not about you, it is not about your ability, it is not even about your gifting or your bank balance. It is actually all about Jesus, inside you.

Colossians 1:27: “Christ in me, the hope of glory.”

Do you know the Fijian Word Champs - the Seven Aside Rugby champions? They have won it so many times but you see, they acknowledge where their strength comes from. They have embroidered Philippians 4:13 on their rugby jerseys: “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.”

You see, they are not ashamed to stand up and say where their strength comes from. Romans 1:16 says: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.”

We need to keep going and ask Jesus to take over today.
Have a wonderful Saturday.
