Pure in Heart

Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
— Matthew 5:8

You know for Absalom, that reprobate, that son of David, who betrayed him so often, the worst of all disgraces for him was that he was not allowed to see the face of the king - his father.

The Bible tells us only the pure in heart can stand in the presence of a holy God, because our God cannot look upon sin of any description.

“And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly.” Luke 22:61-62.

You see the eyes are the window of the heart, that is why it is impossible to have a quiet time with God when we are blatantly sinning. Judas Iscariot went out and killed himself (Matthew 27:5) when he realised what he had done to the Darling of Heaven.

“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”
Proverbs 4:23

It's so easy to tell an untruth on the telephone, isn’t it - because the person can’t see your eyes? Today, we really need to guard our hearts and not allow the evil one to pollute them with the rubbish that we see on television and social media.

I cannot wait for the day when I will look upon my Master and my Lord, and look into those eyes. They must be the most incredible eyes that anyone could see. Have you ever looked into the eyes of a young child... so innocent, so pure in heart - what they see is just absolutely godly.

I want to ask you today to guard your heart. I believe the Lord Jesus wants you to confess anything that is holding you back from spending time with Him. Then, through the grace of God and the love of Jesus Christ, one day we will look and see the eyes of the Lord Jesus Christ saying to you and me, “Well done, good and faithful servant, come and enter into your rest.”

God bless you and have a wonderful day.
