Let's Be Like That Little Swallow
It is 18th December, Friday, and the year is 2020. This is your friend, Angus Buchan with a thought for the day.
If we turn to the Book of Jeremiah, Chapter 8 and verse 7:
“Even the stork in the heavens
Knows her appointed times;
And the turtledove, the swift, and the swallow
Observe the time of their coming.
But My people do not know the judgment of the Lord.”
You know, early this morning, I walked out of my house, going down to my quiet time room, and I looked up into the sky and I saw multitudes of swallows, flying across the sky, just as the sun was starting to break during the night, and I thought, “Lord, You are amazing!
That little bird has arrived in Africa, for summer. He has left Europe because of the winter, and he has come down, all the way down - thousands and thousands of kilometers, down to South Africa, to spend the winter here in our summer time.
Who told him to do that? He has a connection with You.”
The Lord Jesus says in Matthew Chapter 16 and verse 3:
“You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.”
They know where they are going, those little swallows, but what about you and I?
Do we know where we are going?
Do we know what the future holds for us?
I would exhort you this Christmas time hearing from God.
How do we do that?
Well, we spend time in the word each day, reading the Bible.
We spend time with fellow-Christians who have the same heart time looking at God’s creation, and then we discern - the word discern means to recognize or to find out - we discern what God has got in store for us for the future.
You know, they say the whole world stands back for a man who knows where he is going.
We are not to be afraid.
When we see the storm coming, we are to get excited. Why? Because we are going to catch those thermals, and The Lord is going to take us up into areas that we have never been before.
I am so excited about what God is going to do in 2021.
Now, lets be like that little swallow. Let us enjoy the time that He has prepared for us.
Have a wonderful day.
