Be Ready

I started to plant my seed maize crop into dry land.

Now, any farmer will tell you, you wait for the first rains because that soil has got a little bit of dampness in it, just enough to germinate the seed and then it dies, but I carried on, day after day after day, I planted in the dust but do you know what happened…

Follow Your Leader

Many, many years ago, I was at Agricultural College in the North East of Scotland, the North of Scotland College of Agriculture, and during the one term, one of our fellow students - his name was MacMillan (He was a tall man, about 6 ft 9 tall, black hair, sharp features), he got special permission from the principal - he was the only one who could do that, to go back home to his farm.

He farmed on the West Coast of Scotland, a high mountainous area.

He was a sheep farmer. He farmed the black-faced sheep and…

Aim

I remember very clearly in 1989, on 17th November, The Lord gave me a vision, to go to towns, to town halls, to sports fields and to hire them and to preach the gospel.

I got into my pick up with my flask of coffee and said goodbye to my young wife and small children and I went to book the Town Hall in Ladysmith, Kwazulu-Natal.

I didn’t get much encouragement from the local clergy at the time.

Ordinary People

You see, on a Sunday morning we went to church.

I was reluctant to go but my wife could see that I really needed help because I was just working myself steadily to death, night and day,.

And we went to a little Methodist Church in the main street in our town, Greytown, and the methodist minister had organized a lay witness mission.

What does that mean? It means just ordinary people - builders, housewives, sportsmen, musicians, doctors, farmers - giving their testimonies and telling folk what Jesus had done for them.

Broken marriages restored, sickness healed, new vision given, sins forgiven.

I sat there in that church and for the first time in my life, I saw men and women weeping openly, about The Lord Jesus Christ and what He had done for them.

I could identify with these businessmen who said, “I just couldn’t stop. I had to keep working to put bread on the table and I could see there was just no end, and then I met the Man from Galilee.”

A simple altar call was made and up we went.

We committed our lives to Christ and I have never been the same since.

Pray

As we know, last week, there was a very critical situation in our country but I can tell you that over 2000 intercessors, prayer warriors that I know of, were praying for the situation in our beloved South Africa.

We had two zoom conferences with Christian leaders in, and men and women of God who were praying, believing, for a miracle.

It was called by our Chief Justice…

It's Time To Take Your Inheritance

My dear friends, The Lord told Joshua, “It is time to cross over. It is time to take your inheritance.”

Many of us have been waiting and procrastinating for too long.

Those days are over. We need to get on that train now and we need to start to tell people about the soon coming King and stand against that spirit of fear.

Jesus says, “I have not given you a spirit of fear but of power, of love and of a sound mind.”

Even today, as you rest, contemplate, meditate and think about that promise that God has given you and then go and take it.

I AM WHO I AM

I want you to think of a little boy who would go down to the zoo everyday and sit and look at this huge male lion walking up and down inside the cage, a beautiful, magnificent specimen, a black-maned lion.

And then some naughty little boys would come down from the school and they would pick up stones and they would throw stones at this lion, and the little boy loved this lion so much, he would stand in front of the cage of the lion and try and protect the lion from the stones that were being thrown at him.

Spurgeon said, “All he had to do, that little boy who loved the lions so much, was to walk up to the gate and open the gate and let the lion out.

Just Do What The Book Says

Well, I said, “Lord, if I am going to do that I won’t make it.” And I felt The Holy Spirit say to me, “Well, leave one-seventh of your land fallow every year and then after seven years, the whole farm would have rested.”

And that is what I did, and you know, that is totally contrary to what I was taught at agricultural college. I was taught, “One year’s seeds, seven years weeds.”

You have to hammer that land so that the weeds ever come up.

But that is not what God said to me. So I honored His Word and I left one-seventh. But do you know what came out of that? The most beautiful crops you have ever seen.

He Stood His Ground

He had been thrashed by the communists and he had scars right across his back.

He then turned around and put his shirt on and he had their instant attention.

Unless you have been there, you can’t really understand what it is all about.

So that thing you are going through today might be an extremely important testimony in the time to come.

Stand firm.

There Is Freedom In Confession

The old lady was very angry with me. She said, “Young man, I haven’t come to the front for this type of thing. I have come to the front because I want to be healed.”

I said, “I just feel in my heart that there is somebody that you haven’t forgiven, somebody close to you, a family member.”

And with that, she started to weep and she confessed her sins to God.

You know the next week she came back to church and she was radiant.

She was beautiful. She said, “Angus, I haven’t had a headache since that prayer of confession.”

A Small Gesture

And then he said, “Gentlemen, you must pardon me. I have grown grey in your service and now find myself going blind.”

And with that gesture, there was silence over the room.

They say some of the generals started to weep unashamedly…

Don't Speculate

“if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Pray that prayer before you go out today and then look forward - look up, not look down, because your redemption is nigh.

And go and put your arms around those loved ones who are left behind and dry their tears and tell them that that loved one is not dead.

You will see them again, very soon.

A Grain Of Wheat

I remember like it was yesterday, we had one of our earlier Mighty Men Conferences on the farm.

There was an old gentleman who arrived in his little pick-up, his bakkie.

He was all by himself. He put up his little one-man tent and he sat, looking out over the farm.

Nobody noticed him particularly.

He was quiet and he was spending time in the presence of his God.

That night…

A Glorious Future

I want to say to you, that one of the hardest times in my entire life was when my dear little nephew, Alistair Buchan, fell of the tractor that I was driving and was killed.

My brother and his dear wife were so gracious to me, I am eternally indebted to them for their comfort, but I was struggling and losing sight of eternal life.

I remember a neighbor coming over one day and saying to me, “Angus, I have come to ask you, do you have a shotgun?”

I said, “Yes, I do which I use for shooting vermin and wild pigs that were destroying my mealies.”

He said, “Can I take it for a while?”

Carpe Diem

You know, I went out early this morning just as the sun was rising and what a glorious, beautiful summers day.

Jill has got a hedge of Jasmin. The scent was absolutely pungent, delicious!

The birds were singing in the trees and I thought, “Lord, what a beautiful day!”

And I remembered that Latin saying, “Carpe Diem” - make the most of the present time.

Seize the day, my dear friend.

He Rewards Those Who Trust Him

One of my heroes is a man by the name of William Carey.

William Carey was a cobbler and one day they tried to mock him a bit and they said, “I believe you are just a shoemaker.”

He said, “No sir. I can’t make shoes. I am a cobbler. I can only repair them.”

Are You Feeling A Little Downcast

I remember hearing a story - a man from a different religion once said, “We all serve the same god. He just has a different name.”

No sir! We don’t!

The difference between other gods and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is that He has a Son and His name is Jesus Christ.

Other religions don’t…

We Need To Be Different

Just Like The Eagle

Oh my dear friend, the Lord God has made us as eagles to ride the thermals when the storms of life come against us.

Unlike that crow that is sitting on the power line looking for scraps on the earth, the eagle screeches with excitement when there are thermals stirring, caused by big storms are coming.

He gets excited and he spreads out his wings and he flies even higher.

Jesus Loves You So Much

The preacher was adamant, He said,” I am a preacher of the gospel. It must be there. I demand to see God.”

The angel put the cowboy on his back and they flew to heaven.

He put the cowboy down on a floor of shining gold and then he heard a voice, so loud it was like a massive waterfall, like thunder and lighting.

“Who are you and what do you want here?”

It was God Himself. He was petrified. He didn’t move, he just lay there.

A second time the voice said,” Who are you and what do you want here?”

Just then, this petrified cowboy lying with his face on the floor heard footsteps coming from behind him.

Someone wearing sandals and the swishing of a robe.
