If God Is For You

And one morning I went through the maize and The Lord said, “Stop looking at the gaps. Start looking at the maize.”

You see, we don’t get paid by volume.

We get paid by weight, and each one of those cobs had massive pips, and that year I was able to cover all my costs and even make a little profit. Remember, if God is for you, no man will stand against you.

Have You Lost Your Way?

Well, I remember that children’s bedtime story of Hansel and Gretel.

Remember that little brother and sister?

I think they lived somewhere maybe in Germany and they went into the big dark forest and they wanted to make sure that they would not lose their way, so Hansel started to drop little bits of bread on the path so that they would find their way back. He made a plan.

But of course, what happened was…

But God

It is better to have even tried and failed than to have never tried at all. Remember, when we were told, when we were young men and women – a faint heart never wins a fair maiden. We cannot be undecided. This is the time we have to put our faith and everything we have into action. We need to stand on the promises of God.

The Gospel Is For Free

When they were finished, they stood up, and they said to the dear old lady, “How much do we owe you, Madam?”

And she looked puzzled.

She said, “You don’t owe me anything!”

They had walked into a private home!

Who Can This Be?

In the archives in Rome, there is a report written, nearly 2000 years ago, by a Roman, (His name was Publius Lentulus) to his emperor, Tiberius. It reads:

There has appeared in Palestine, a man, who is…

A Rushing Mighty Wind

Oh my dear friend, do you believe in miracles? Well, if you don’t believe in miracles, you cannot believe the Bible because the Bible is full of miracles from Genesis right through to the Book of Revelation. I remember, like it was yesterday, being invited to speak at the Feast of Tabernacles, down at Ein Gedi, the Dead Sea in Israel, the lowest point on earth - 400 meters below the sea level. Folks, it was something I will never forget.

Simplicity

In the Middle East, the shepherds lead their sheep. In the West, we tend to chase our sheep with sheepdogs, but in the Middle East, the shepherd calls his sheep. They hear his voice and they follow after him.

Do You Feel Like You Are Perishing?

But then, early this morning, I woke up and I went across to my prayer room and the first thing I always do, I look up to the sky. I saw no stars today, just beautiful clouds - no stars, no wind, no noise, only peace - a great calm.

He will not desert you, my dear friend. He will not desert us. Why? Because He is in the boat with us.

Just Say Sorry

They went in and they did a check and they came out and they said, “Angus, you need to go back again. There are too many flowers that have been left. They need to be pulled out today. We are coming back tomorrow and if they are not out, we are going to condemn the whole crop.”

That would have been my whole farm and livelihood finished with one stroke of the pen…

He Is Eternally Trustworthy

I had some neighbors come and say to me, “Angus, you are committing suicide. You don’t have any irrigation. How can you plant potatoes? And we are expecting the worst drought ever!

I said, “I am going to do it because I am keeping my eyes on the Faithful One - Philippians 4 verse 9.

“The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Well, we planted the crop...

Giving

You know, our biggest enemy is not the devil. No, no, no!

It is ourselves. I always remember the saying that the devil’s neck was broken on the Cross of Calvary.

When Jesus Christ said, “It is finished.” He meant it.

The Upside-Down Gospel

We have to prefer one another. We have to put other programs before our own.

You know, often the gospel is called, “the upside-down gospel”.

The Khoisan people call the baobab tree, the upside-down tree, because in the winter when the leaves are all off the tree, it looks like the roots are sticking up in the sky, and so it is with us as followers of Jesus Christ.

We are sometimes regarded as people who are following the upside-down gospel. Why?

Because Jesus said in Luke 14:27:

“And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.”

Do Not Forget To Entertain Strangers

Do you remember that little band that we used to put on our wrists? What would Jesus do? WWJD? I had one on my wrist until it literally fell off, eventually. Let us today be careful who we speak to and who we turn away because we might even be turning away an angel.

Today The Choice Is Yours

The Lord says, “Do not be unevenly yoked.”

What does that mean?

It means a believer cannot marry an unbeliever. Why? Because oil does not mix with water and darkness with light.

You say, “But I will get him to come through for The Lord when I marry him” or, “I will bring her to The Lord when I marry her.”

No, you won’t! The chances are it will be the other way round.

Let Us Eat The Bread Of Life

You see, the Word of God is actually Jesus, Himself in print.

That’s right. If we go to 1 John Chapter 5 and verse 7, the Word of God tells us that there are three who bear witness in Heaven: The Father, The Word, and The Holy Spirit.

So who is the Word? Yes, the Word is Jesus.

Little Boys With Big Dreams

This morning, very, very early, I received a most beautiful letter from the United States of America, from a young man who I am mentoring.

It stirred me up so much. And in the letter he wrote, he said little boys with big dreams don’t always materialize.

They don’t always turn out the way we expected them to and we feel like failures so often.

Let The Little Children Come To Me

You know, I love the simplicity of children and we really need to give them time folks, because they can teach us so much. I can’t wait to see my grandchildren every day. They live all around us and they are such a blessing to me. They teach me so many things. You know, as a preacher, I always…

When Jesus Prunes You and I

To me, those parents are very cruel because that little boy or that little girl has got no discipline in their lives and when they go to school they think they can just do what they like, and sometimes it takes the other little boys and little girls, to prune that child and it is extremely painful…
