Well, I want to think back to when I was a small boy. My dad was a blacksmith.
They worked with steel all day.
My dad was in the gym 18 hours a day but yet was one of the most gentle men that I ever knew.
You know, he had a back as wide as a door. He had fingers like sausages. He had a grip like a vice-grip but he was so gentle with me and my brother and sister.

And Robert The Bruce realized that if he continued to persevere he could win the battle. He then went out and won and had the victory.

Some of you are wondering:
Should I just close the door and pack up?
Shall I not persevere anymore with that person that is working for me?
Should I close down?
Not at all! Keep on, keeping on and The Lord is going to turn things to the good.
Preaching is a way of life.
We have got to do it now, especially when things are so open and everyone is asking questions about the future.
What does the future hold?
This is our opportunity to tell people about Jesus Christ and to tell people that we will make it if we put our trust in Him.
There are so many voices speaking into our minds at the moment, aren’t there?
When is the lockdown going to be lifted?
When is the Coronavirus going to peak?
When do we go back to school?
When do we start work?
Do we start work?
And we go on and on and it can become quite depressing.
What do these three men have in common - the boxer, the runner, the farmer?
What they had was the same as what Paul had – perseverance.
They completed the job and they did what God had called them to do, and they did it with all of their heart.
I want to tell you a story that is probably the saddest story for me in the Old Testament.
It comes from the Book of Judges, Chapter 11, and verse 30. It speaks about a great, mighty man of valor, by the name of Jephthah…
Sometimes, it is uncomfortable to get up early in the morning, especially in winter.
Sometimes, it takes a lot of discipline to go to bed at night, to turn that television off and get a good night’s sleep.
We have got to keep the routine.
Why? Because when the lockdown is completely lifted, we need to be ready for action.

You know, I always say, tongue in cheek, if it was up to the men to populate the earth, if we had to give birth to babies, the world would be extinct by now because we can’t handle the pain, boys, and we must be honest about that.
