Making Him Known

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!
Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works!”
1 Chronicles 16:8

And then we go to the New Testament, to John 12:32:

“And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”

We have got to talk of all His wondrous works. You and I have to speak up today and tell people what Jesus has done for us. James Hudson Taylor took the Gospel to China hundreds of years ago and one of the Chinese converts came to him after he had been converted for a few months.
James Hudson Taylor said to him, “How is it going?”
“No”, he said, “It is wonderful! It is wonderful, I have found the answer to eternal life!”
He said to James Hudson Taylor, ”But I want to ask you a question. What took you so long to come to China and to tell us about the Saviour of the world? You see, my old dad searched for the truth all his life. He studied different religions and he died, having never found it.” James Hudson Taylor never forgot that.

I want to ask you a question this morning. What person lying in a hospital ward with other patients dying, on his deathbed - having received a tablet, a miraculous tablet that healed him instantly would get up, get dressed, say goodbye to all his dying friends without telling him about the miracle cure? Not one of us! And yet, when we keep quiet when people are seeking the truth, that is exactly what is happening.

One of my heroes was a man by the name of Rodney Smith. His actual name was Gipsy Smith, he was a Romani Gypsy. He lived in one of those painted caravans and he was a great evangelist. He preached in the open-air off the back of his horse-drawn caravan to crowds of folk... up to 10,000 at a time. He had no formal education. One day, a burnt-out lay preacher came to the caravan after one of the meetings and he said, “I have preached everything in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and I just don’t have anything more to say. I am totally worn out, what can I do? I see that you have such fire in your preaching.” And Gipsy said, “Just keep on telling folk what Jesus means to you.

You see, that is what preaching is all about, one hungry beggar showing another hungry beggar where to find bread. Let's go out today and talk of all His wondrous works and make known His deeds among the people.

Have a wonderful day and God bless you!
