Joy Will Come

“Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.”
Psalm 30:5

And then we go onto Psalm 126:5-6:

“Those who sow in tears
Shall reap in joy.
He who continually goes forth weeping,
Bearing seed for sowing,
Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing,
Bringing his sheaves with him.”

The Lord is saying to us today: “Do not give up!” Hebrews 13:6, one of my favourite scriptures:

“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”

Maybe this Monday morning you have lost a loved one over the weekend... maybe you don’t have a business to go to this week because you have gone bankrupt or maybe you are just sitting there struggling to breathe, working through this treacherous COVID-19 virus.

The Lord says to us this morning, “Stand“ for the battle is the Lord’s. Ephesians 6:14.
He will see us through this hard and relentless time that we are experiencing. Over this past weekend, we experienced a snowstorm on Shalom Farm, indeed the whole of Kwazulu-Natal, as we have never ever seen before... in 44 years of farming at Shalom.

You see, we are not geared for snow, we live in Africa. The day before, it was 39 degrees and as I am talking to you now, it must be minus something. The snow started falling, it got dark and it carried on falling. It was fell at a tremendous rate and it got darker. The plastic tunnels housing the fruit ready for picking started sagging. There were reports of other farmers whose Kiwi Fruit under structures, starting to collapse under the weight of the snow pushing down on it.

I was sitting here praying for the poor, the hungry and the homeless. “Lord, where are they going to go...” While I was praying I felt the Holy Spirit say, “Joy will come in the morning.” Well, my dear friend, as I am recording this message, I got up early this morning, it was pitch black outside. I was making Jill a cup of tea and making a fire in our wood stove because it is freezing cold. I went outside and I heard the doves singing. There was not a single cloud in the sky. The sun started peeking over the horizon and I saw a most glorious sight - Everything was at peace. It was like God had washed the earth. It was snow-white... excuse the pun.

In the fields, the calves were calling their mothers for milk. The guinea fowl were looking for maize kernels and chirping as they were calling their little ones to follow them. Most of all, the Holy Spirit was affirming: It is going to be all right - I am coming back very soon to wipe away every tear. Joy will come in the morning.

Have a wonderful week and if Christ is for you, you have nothing to fear.
God bless you.
