Priorities

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33

We are talking about priorities.
Many years ago, my wife, Jill and I, had a little Christian coffee bar in Greytown. We used to meet every Friday night with all the young people in the town - It was a wonderful time. During the evening when we all sat back and reclined, drinking our coffee and hot chocolate, there was a wonderful camaraderie. These young people really started to open up and they started to trust us and trust one another, in the presence of God.

We would start off every Friday night with worship and praise. The young folk would have their guitars and keyboards. We sang all the popular Christian songs and even had a weight-lifting club there - That’s right!

I took the young guys and taught them how to build themselves up, they would get a lot of self-assurance from that without any peer pressure.

One night while we were sitting having our coffee and hot chocolate, one of the young ladies, a leader named Madeleine, stood up to share her testimony. She said, “I woke up early one morning, and on the table next to my bed was my Bible.” She had taken off her wristwatch and put it on the Bible and she had obviously found a five rand coin in her pocket and she had put that on top of the Bible as well. Then she looked at it and she said to the Lord: “Please, never allow me to put time and money in preference to spending time with You.” Well, years later her brother told me when, I met him, “That young sister of mine, well, she went on to be a very successful businesswoman in the banking world.” I can only assume that was because she kept her priorities close to her heart - First Jesus and then time and money... very much after that.

Have a wonderful day today as you also seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and then all these other things will fall into place.

God bless you and goodbye.
