Yesmen
“Now therefore, know and consider what you will do, for harm is determined against our master and against all his household. For he is such a scoundrel that one cannot speak to him.”
I want to say to you that Nabal, that was his name, was a very successful and wealthy farmer. He owned 3,000 sheep and he owned 1,000 goats.
He was a very wealthy man but he paid no regard and took no counsel from anyone - He was a very foolish man.
If it wasn’t for his wife Abigail, he would have perished. King David would have slaughtered Nabal, his entire household and all his workforce, but she saved the day by using good, godly wisdom.
I want to say that my wife Jill, is my closest counsellor and my confidante. We need to take counsel, one does not need “yes men” around you. What does that mean? Someone who will just tell you and agree with whatever you say because they are not really concerned about you, they just want to keep their job or their position.
It is very dangerous to have 'yes-men' around you. Get godly advisers around you - I want to stress that this morning.
You know with COVID-19 we only have one bite at the apple... We don’t have two chances. If you don’t get it right the first time, you are in big trouble. I have the privilege of having four trustees that are not only trustees in name but who are actively involved in everything, concerning this ministry, my life and my family’s life. Two of them are older than me and two of them are younger than me. These are not 'yes men' and they are responsible for the whole well-being of this ministry.
Get good advisers around you - they may even save your life! Most importantly, listen to them.
Have a wonderful day. God bless you and goodbye.
