Loyal Hearts

And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!
— 2 Chronicles 14:11

Remember the story of Gideon?
God told him to send back 32,000 fighting men and keep a mere 300 to go up against the enemy - and he defeated them!

Why, might you ask?
Well, because God will share His Glory with no man and so what then, is God looking for? Well, according to 2 Chronicles 16:9 the Bible says:

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal towards Him.”

You see God doesn’t need us, He made Heaven and Earth with one word - just look at the Book of Genesis... but He wants us. He wants us because He loves us and He wants to fellowship with us. Father God is no respecter of numbers or even persons. He will use anybody who earnestly puts up his hand. Acts 10:34

God shows no partiality. God has got no favourites, that is what I love about Him so much. All Jesus requires from you and me is availability, not even our ability.

I remember going to Ladysmith to book the town hall for the first ever campaign that I had in 1989. I was in my farm clothes, I went in my pick-up and I took a flask of coffee with me. I said goodbye to Jill and the kids and then I started visiting the churches. I will be honest with you... and I don’t blame them - I got the cold shoulder, oh yes, I did! I even took a peace offering with me, I took a bag of fresh green maize cobs for each minister - they all took the maize cobs.

But one of them asked me, “Who is the speaker?”, expecting me to announce some big overseas celebrity.
I said quietly, “It is actually me.” He looked at me.
He said, “Well maybe God sent you here to bend you a little bit.”

I will never forget it as long as I live, I was totally dejected. I went and parked underneath a thorn tree, I felt like Elijah. But the Lord you see, was testing me because one minister was out of town and I left a little note under his door. When he got back he phoned me the next morning. He said to me, “Angus, we have been praying and fasting for this event, God told us it was going to happen!” And that was the beginning of the ministry of Shalom Ministries. His name was Brian, I will never forget him as long as I live.

God is no respecter of men or women.
Today, go out and remember, if God is with you, you have the majority.

God bless you and goodbye.
