Delight Yourself in The Lord

Psalm 37 and verse 4: “Delight yourself also in the Lord”

I want to say to you today that the healthiest people do not think much about their health. You see, what you say is what you get. We have got to stop analyzing our motives.

We are always looking inward - we have got to start looking outward.

You can’t continue to stew over past transgressions, wishing that they had never said this, or wishing that we had never said that. It is time for you and me to move on. The attitude of 'woe is me' must stop. We must move on now with Jesus Christ.

Nehemiah Chapter 8 and verse 10:

“Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Do you know that you will not live one day longer on this planet than what God has ordained for you? You cannot prolong your life, your life is in God’s hands. However, there is one thing that you can do, that is: the quality of life that you live, is in your hands.

If you want to carry on smoking and you end up with emphysema, having to spend the last days of your life on an oxygen bottle - that is your choice. If you choose to totally disregard your health and end up in a wheelchair for the last days of your life - that is also your choice.

But when it comes to how long you are going to live for on this planet, that is in God’s hands.

I remember a very well-equipped mountain climber, one of these guys that climbs up that rock face, went to the doctor and the doctor said, “You have a heart disease and you only have a couple of years left to live on this earth.” So he had nothing to lose - he got on an aeroplane and he came to South Africa and started climbing some of the most dangerous mountains in the Drakensberg. He conquered those mountains, and he carried on doing it. You know that man, they say, lived well into his eighties.

Don’t keep looking inward, look outward. See what you can do to help other people. Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Paul the apostle said: “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21

So if we live, we live for Jesus. If we die we go home to be with Him forever. And you have heard me say many times before, you can’t frighten a Christian with Heaven.

So, go out today and enjoy the day, and bless someone else, stop looking at yourself and start looking at others.
