Be Still And Know

It is Wednesday, 30th December 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

Psalm 46 verse 10:

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

We have just heard that there is possibly another wave of the Coronavirus coming.

Some say it will be more infective than the first one but I want to ask you a question today.

Are you keeping your eyes on Jesus, or are you keeping your eyes on the Covid 19 disease?

Matthew Chapter 8, and verse 25, the disciples said, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”

They were looking at the waves, the boat was filling with water, and they thought they were surely going to drown.

Jesus answered: “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?”

As followers of Jesus Christ, it is a great insult to God, and a very poor testimony to the world, when you and I become anxious.

You see, the Bible says in Philippians Chapter 4 and verse 6:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

This is not a time for defective, ineffective faith. This is a time where we really need to start looking upward and not looking so much inward.

We are to entrust ourselves into the hands of our loving Heavenly Father.

It is His peace that will guard us. God is sovereign. He is in control. We can truly entrust all our difficulties and fears to Jesus.

Remember, my dear friend, He rules over all creation and He is wise and loving in all His ways.

So you and I must be thankful, because when we are thankful to God, this brings peace into our heart.

I want to say to mothers today, Mom, how would you feel if little Mary came to you and said, ”Mom, will we have food to eat tonight?”

I think you would be quite hurt, wouldn’t you? You would say to little Mary, “Have you ever gone to bed without food before Mary?”

And she would say, “No mom.”

“Well, why are you questioning me now?”

My dear friend, let us not question God today. Let us remember that He is coming back very soon, to take you and I to be with Him in Paradise, but until then we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and the Perfecter of our faith.

Have a wonderful day today as you encourage your fellowman.

There is nothing to be afraid of. Jesus is in full control.
