Open The Door
It is 23rd December, Wednesday morning 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.
If we go to Psalm 91 - there are so many of us that are quoting that Psalm at this time:
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
Where is that secret place in your heart today, where The Lord Jesus can come and be intimate with you? How do you find it?
Jesus knew that place so well. He had intimate times with His Father continually, when He walked on the earth.
The word, “intimacy” means close friendship.
At this Christmas time, we remember that Joseph, who was of the lineage of David, had to be registered in Bethlehem, a decree by Caesar Augustus.
If we look at Luke Chapter 2 and verse 7, they were looking for somewhere to stay, him and young Mary, a mere teenager but she was about to give birth to The Son of God.
Luke Chapter 2, verse 7 - no room for them in the Inn!
Do you have room for our Saviour in your heart today?
Do you have room for the Son of God?
You know, this year particularly, will probably be a Christmas time when we will have more time than ever before in the history of the world, to spend intimate time with Jesus.
The airlines have closed down, travel is minimized, large gatherings are prohibited. This is a time where you and I can open our hearts in an intimate way for the Son of God.
Revelation Chapter 3 and verse 20, Jesus says to you today and to me:
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
What an opportunity this Christmas time to be intimate with The Son of God.
But you know, it takes time.
I remember, my young son, when he was a mere teenager, he didn’t open up too quickly. That is just his nature, very much like his mom, but very deep.
And often we would saddle up two horses and we would go for a ride on the farm, and I wouldn’t say too much, and sometimes it would take up to half an hour, and then he would start talking, and when he started talking, I couldn’t stop him, but he needed time - he needed time to speak.
You have lots of time this Christmas to be with The King of Glory.
Go out and talk with Him and listen carefully, and He will answer you.
Have a wonderful day.
