Peace Child

It is Tuesday, 22nd December 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

It is Christmas time.

If we go to Isaiah Chapter 9 and verse 6, the Word of God says:

“For unto us a Child is born,

Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.

And His name will be called

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

We remember the child, the Son of God, Jesus, who came down from Heaven to earth to bring peace to our hearts.

That is what the essence of Christianity is all about and especially at this Christmas time.

John Chapter 16 and verse 33, Jesus says:

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

How are you feeling today? Are you feeling a little bit sad?

You say, “My family can’t come over and spend Christmas with me because the airlines have all been locked down.”

Are you maybe a little bit fearful today?

“Will I still have a job in 2021?”

Maybe you are worried. You are worried that a loved one is in hospital with Covid 19.

Well, our Heavenly Father knows exactly how you feel and that is why He sent His child, His only son, down to earth, to bring us peace.

John 3, verse 16:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Papua New Guinea, the Sawi Tribe, a cannabal people - In 1962 a missionary, by the name of Don Richardson, with his 7 month of son, Steven, and his young wife, paddled up that river to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and he was struggling to try and explain to them what Jesus means to us and what our Heavenly Father did, until he heard a tradition of these tribes.

What they would do is, two tribes who were warring against each other, would find peace by giving a young baby from each tribe, to the other tribe. And they would look after that baby and that baby would bring peace to the tribe.

Then the penny dropped and this man, Don Richardson could explain that The Heavenly Father gave His Son to us on earth, so that there might be peace.

And that whole tribe came to Christ.

I have seen a video 50 years later, and they are still serving The Lord and they love Jesus Christ.

This is the time for the Peace Child to be lifted up. Have a blessed day and remember what Christmas is about.

It is about giving and God showed us the way.
