Unconditional Forgiveness
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 17th of January, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
We start in Exodus 21:24:
“An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.”
Then we go to Matthew 5:38-39:
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.”
Oh, it’s a tough one this morning folks, it really is, but I am just delivering the word that God has given to me. We need to forgive unconditionally. Why? You ask. It’s not fair. No, its not fair but we need to do it because Jesus said so. Jesus said, when He was dying on the cross:
“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
(Luke 23:34)
Jesus had done no wrong to any person on earth, and He was dying the most savage death that any man can die with. Why did He do it? Because His Father in Heaven told Him. You see, when you forgive it diffuses a potential explosion. I just think of a hand grenade. When you pull that pin out of the hand grenade, then you have got a few seconds to throw it before it explodes. Don’t do it! Forgive. When you forgive, it can save a relationship that can be lost forever. Just turn the other cheek. It’s not easy to be a Christian. It takes unbelievable courage from that young girl, that old man, who has done nothing wrong but has been persecuted. Leave the justice to God. Let Him do what He needs to do.
I can tell you one thing right now. You might say, “But Angus, they are getting away with it.” No, they are not. There will be a day of judgement. I can tell you that now, and everything will be put straight, but in the meantime, just do what Jesus did. Let us forgive. Let us turn the other cheek and let us say, “Lord, I am committing that situation into Your hands, and walk away and I want to tell you, there will be a burden lifted off your shoulders, like you cannot believe.
Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,
Goodbye.
