The Harvest
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 15th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
We start in the Gospel of Matthew 10:14. This is Jesus speaking:
”And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.”
Then we go to the Book of Acts 18:6 and this is Paul speaking:
”But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his garments and said to them,“Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”
These are serious words. I am an evangelist. I’ll go to the other end of the world to see one soul saved, but there comes a time when a person does not want to hear from you any longer. What can you do then? There’s only one thing you can do and that is to pray for that person and move along. You’ve heard the old term, “It’s like flogging a dead horse”. What does that mean? That means beating a horse, trying to get it to stand up, but the animal is dead. It is a waste of time.
It is like a farmer in a field, I saw a picture once, he’s in the wrong field. There is a beautiful field of ripe wheat waiting to be harvested, but he is in the next field, which is still green and still growing. He is making an absolute failure of the beautiful green field that is still growing. He needs to leave it until it matures and harvest the field next door, where it is golden and ready for reaping. It’s like going into an orchard and picking green apples before they are ripe. They are wasted.
You and I today need to really pray hard and we need to preach the Gospel to those who want to hear it and those who have no desire to turn their hearts to the Lord. That’s what happened with Paul, and Jesus told the disciples the same thing. Move along and you will find somebody that is desperate to hear the Good News.
Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.
Goodbye.
