Secret Place

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, 22nd of May 2023 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, thought for today. We start in Matthew 6:6 Jesus says:

"But when you pray go into your room and when you have shut your door pray to your father who is in the secret place and your father who sees in secret will reward you openly."

The secret place - do you have a secret place where you speak with your heavenly father? Let us go to Romans 10:17:

"Now then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God."

Do you know the that greatest gift you can give to your children or to your friends is to make them 'hearers from Heaven', to make them hearers from God, not to draw them to yourself but to draw them to God... There's a word for a lot of pastors listening to this message - Make people hearers from heaven.

You know the Russian Believers have a little room at the bottom of the garden, it's called a poustinia - it's their secret place. It is where they go to pray to Jesus on their own. Do you know that even the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, you'll find that in Luke 11:1. I can hear somebody saying today: "But I don't have a closet, I don't have a private place to pray..." Well, you could be in a prison cell, you could be in a hospital bed as you hear this message, you could be in a school dormitory but I want to tell you, you can still pray. You see, I want to tell you I have a poustinia, a secret place in my mind... Now, just relax, I'm not talking about positive thoughts here, I'm talking about prayer!

It's a place where I can go to any time I want to and I can be quiet and I can speak to Jesus and I can hear him speaking to me in my heart, not audibly. I'm going to describe it to you - It's a place in central Zambia, where I originate from, deep in the bush of Central Africa. I walk down this little path with tall elephant grass growing on both sides, down to a wetland area. The wild birds are singing in the large African trees, a gentle breeze is blowing the grass but it's absolutely quiet and peaceful. I sit on the trunk of a fallen tree by the side of the path. I quiet and my spirit and I start to listen to the still small voice of Jesus and then I start to speak to Him. Not even out loud, quietly in my spirit man... I do that in airports when I'm waiting to catch a plane, I do it when I'm driving in a motor car - anywhere! Do it today, it will change your life.

Jesus bless you, goodbye.
