No Condemnation
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 8th of August, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
We start in Joshua 5:9: Then the Lord said to Joshua,
“This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day.”
I have driven past that place many times. I looked up the meaning of that word. “Gilgal” means rolling away. The Lord has rolled away Egypt from you, my dear friend, if you love Jesus.
Then we go to John 8:10-11:
“When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
Oh my dear friend, maybe today you are feeling guilty, maybe you are feeling that God will never forgive you for all you have done. I want to tell you if you confess your sin, He will forgive you. He forgave that woman. She was an adulterer. She was caught sleeping with another man that was not her husband, and they wanted to stone her, but when they brought her to Jesus, He said,
“He who has no sin, cast the first stone.”
They all walked away. I want to tell you today, there is no future in the past.
The Lord said to Joshua, “Egypt has been taken away from you, the reproach, the past. There is no future in the past. I have got a little wood carving that was made by a dear friend of mine, and this is what it says, quoting Latin: “Aquila non capit muscas” - It means “eagles do not chase mosquitoes.” They don’t have time to chase mosquitoes. Eagles go up into the high mountains, and they look for prey that they can eat. They don’t waste their time.
A man accused me once, in a newspaper, of doing something ridiculous in Cape Town, while I was living in Greytown. It was a lie from the pit of hell. I said to my dear friend, Lukey, “Lukey, what shall I do? Shall I sue the newspapers?” He said to me, “Angus, Eagles don’t chase mosquitoes. Leave it, dust it off your shoulders and carry on!” John Newton said as he was dying, “What a great sinner I am, but what a great Saviour Jesus is!” No condemnation.
