Shout for Joy
“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.”
This is a time for the Christian to start to shout out with joy because the Lord Jesus Christ is still very much on the throne and He is coming back very, very soon!
“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.”
Psalm 95:1
You know Jesus said to the Pharisees when the people were praising Him. They said, “Speak to the people and tell them to stop it.” Luke 19:40
“But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” This is a time for you and me to show the Lord that we love Him by being outspoken, by praising His wonderful name.
Early this morning when I came back from my bike ride, my wife Jill said, “Can you hear the doves in the trees Angus?” I said, “They are beautiful today - they are singing to the praise of God.” She said, “But listen carefully,” she said, “I can discern the young doves from the older doves.”
That’s right! The young doves - their songs are shorter and they are crisper and more precise. But the older doves, their songs are longer and deeper because you see, they have walked the road a lot longer than the young ones. Sing to the Lord in different ways!
When I am riding my mountain bike, I think sometimes, some of the workers in the field must think: "that old man has lost his marbles" because out of the blue, I start to shout and worship God and thank Him for the beautiful day that He has given me to live in.
I remember a story from many years ago of a lady in one of these high-rise apartments. She was so lonely and so depressed, she just wanted to give up. She said, “Lord if I don’t hear from you, I am giving up!” At that moment a young man was walking down on the pavement, way below the flats and he felt the Holy Spirit say to him, “Just shout out: Jesus loves you!” And that is exactly what he did! Of course, that woman could hardly believe her ears, hearing those words coming in, wafting up to her flat.
Today, praise the Lord because He is truly worthy to be praised -Have a wonderful day!
