We Have Responsibilities

It is Saturday, 9th January 2021, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

If we go to the Book of Revelation, Chapter 22, and I am reading verse 12:

Jesus says: “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.”

The Lord Jesus Christ is coming very, very soon. He might even be coming today. What a day that would be!

But what are you and I to do in the meantime?

Well, we are to carry one living. That’s right.

We have got responsibilities.

They asked Martin Luther, the great reformist, they said to him, “What would you do today if you knew that Jesus was coming tomorrow?” He said, “I would plant an apple tree.”

Now, those of you who have been to Germany know that there are many, many apple orchards in Germany. What did he mean by that statement? Well, he meant he was going to carry on living.

They asked John Wesley, who was probably the greatest revivalist in modern times, they said, “What would you do if you knew that Jesus was coming back tomorrow?”

He said, “Well, this morning at 9 o’clock I have got a Bible study meeting at such and such a place, and then I am riding my horse to the next village, and tonight I have got a cottage meeting with a whole lot of farm-workers, and then the next…” And that is what he would do, he would carry on.

You and I need to carry on living my dear friend.

We have got responsibilities. Very early this morning, just as the sun was coming up, I was feeding my chickens - that’s right, and I looked over the fence, and I saw a cow chewing the cud - that cow was so happy and so content and I said, “Lord, thank you for giving us life, and life abundantly.” John Chapter 10 and verse 10.

Have a wonderful day today as you continue living because The Lord Jesus Christ is coming back very soon.

God bless you and goodbye.
