Overcoming Giants
“And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?”
Spoken by a mere youth, a teenager - He was fearless! You see the army of Israel was under siege by a bully. That's right, his name was Goliath. He had them in absolute fear but this young man (David) was totally fearless.
He had been minding his father’s sheep and was told to take some food down to his brothers who were on the frontline fighting the Philistines. He saw that they were totally intimidated. The Oxford Dictionary defines the word intimidation to be: “frightened or overawed.” The whole army was intimidated by one man but this youngster had been spending time with God, you see. He saw this giant but what he also saw was that the God of Israel was more powerful than any giant.
He had his eye on the God of Israel and not on the enemy.
What motivates us today, what gets you out of bed in the morning? What is the motivating factor in your lives today? If we say, “Well, we don’t really know - we don’t have one.” Then we are in severe trouble...
You see because David was in the presence of God daily, this giant had no influence over his life. I want to tell you today that the devil is a coward, just like Goliath was, when you stand up to a coward, he always backs down! Because of David’s faith in God, he was more willing to take on Goliath than any of the seasoned soldiers in Saul’s army.
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
1 Corinthians 2:9
With one accurate slingshot that young boy dropped the mightiest warrior in the Philistine army! What is that giant in our lives today?
Have a wonderful day today as you remember, with Christ Jesus on your side, there is no-one who can overcome you.
Goodbye, and God bless you!
