Our Peace

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
— John 14:27

Cast your cares upon Jesus for He cares for you!
1 Peter 5:7.

People are desperate for peace, they are looking everywhere for peace, they are trying everything they can. One of the fruits of the Spirit is peace. Galatians 5:22: Love, joy, peace. We need peace.

How do we obtain that peace?
Well Ephesians 2:14: “For He, Himself is our peace”. It is by letting Jesus into our life that gives us the peace that the world cannot give.

I remember many years ago, in the '90s, coming back from a trip where I had been preaching in Britain. I had been there for three months, away from Jill and the kids and when I came back, I hit a downer. I had never experienced it before - All of a sudden everybody was carrying on and I just seemed to be a passenger on the farm. I went to visit an old friend, his name was uncle Gerhard Engelbrecht. He was a South African of German descent and an old campaigner, he had walked the talk - He had been there and done it all.

He was an old evangelist, I used to go and sit with him and he would hardly speak, he would just sit there and smile. I would say: “I don’t know what is wrong with me Uncle Gerhard.”
I should be rejoicing, we saw people getting saved and coming to Christ in the UK, people getting healed - wonderful meetings, and I come back home and I just feel down and out, wretched.”

He would just smile and I knew that he knew exactly how I was feeling because he had been there. You know he made me the most beautiful walking stick as a gift. I would go there sometimes and have a cup of tea with him and he would tell me about his fruit trees. He was busy working on his fruit trees and he would tell me he was grafting new varieties onto his trees. He didn’t give me a whole string of scripture verses, he didn’t go and preach to me - He just exuded the peace of Jesus Christ. I used to leave that place feeling absolutely relaxed.

People need Jesus and they will only see Jesus through you and me. They will only see Jesus when you and I are walking in peace. I miss that old man but I will see him in Heaven one day - I know that for sure! But I tell you what, that kind of peace you can’t learn at university, you can’t read a book about it. You have got to have it in your heart and His Name is Jesus.

Go out today and tell people about the peace of God that passes all understanding, the shalom, the vrede, the thula peace of God.

God bless you and goodbye.
