Gloriously Saved

It is 10th September 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

If we go to the Book of James, Chapter 5 and I am reading from verse 20:

“…he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.”

If we look at the Amplified Bible, it talks about, “procure the pardon of the many sins of the convert.”

There is nothing like seeing the joy and liberty in the face of a sinner, saved from eternal damnation.

It is truly something to behold.

I remember reading the story of Billy Bray.

He came from England. He was a Cornish tin miner.

He was tough and rough but he got gloriously saved from being a drunkard and a fighter.

On a Saturday morning he would go down to the village square and he would stand on a stone wall, and he would preach the gospel.

He would tell people that Jesus saves.

The one Saturday morning, an old drinking buddy of his, also a miner, told him to shut-up, or he would punch him.

But Billy just preached even louder, that Jesus saves all men who would bow the knee.

The tough miner stepped up and he punched Billy in the face, knocked him off the wall.

Billy got up, full of blood all over his mouth, spat out a couple of teeth, got back on the wall and told his friend, once again, that Jesus loves him.

The old miner stood up again and punched him off the wall.

This happened three times.

The third time, Billy stood up on the wall and he said, “Jesus loves you!”

And the tough old miner broke into tears.

He knelt down in the village square, in front of everybody and said, “Billy please, tell me about your Blessed Saviour”, and Billy had the privilege of leading that man to Christ.

There is nothing in this life that is more worthwhile than saving a soul.

My dear friend, go out today and tell people that Jesus Christ died for them and loves them, irrespective of what they have done or what they haven’t done, because He died for sinners like you and me.

Like never before this world needs to know that they need to be born again in order to have eternal life.
