God Will Not Disappoint You

It is Tuesday, 26th May, 2020 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan with a thought for the day.

If we go to the Book of Philippians Chapter 4 and verse 19, the Word of God says,”And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in Christ Jesus.”

I just think of the story of the Israelites when they were tired of eating manna from Heaven , fresh manna.

They said it tasted like pastry when it had been cooked.

It was like coriander. It was beautiful, fresh, every single morning from Heaven, just like the dew that covers the grass in the early morning.

And yet they got very ungrateful and unthankful towards God and they started to complain to Moses saying, “When we were in Egypt, we had fish to eat and cucumbers and onions and garlic and melons, and here we have nothing.”

And The Lord was very disappointed in them and then of course eventually he sent them fowl from the air, wild birds, to feed them, and not just for one day, or five days but for a whole month.

I want to ask you today, are you concerned for the way forward after the lockdown? Are you concerned about where you are going to get your food from?

Well, I think that that would hurt The Lord terribly.

He has never let you down before, has He?

It would be like a little child coming to his dad and saying, “Dad, will we have food to eat tomorrow?”

That would be so hurtful for dad because he would look at his little boy and say, “Son, have I ever let you down? Have you ever gone to bed without food before.?”

And the little boy would say, “No, dad.”

And he would say, “Well, why are you doubting me now?”

Oh my dear friend, I want to encourage you today and encourage myself.

We need to look unto Jesus.

He is the One who supplies our every need.

Not to the government, not to the company, not to your business, not to any other source of income or provision but to God and to God alone.

It is extremely hurtful and disappointing to The Lord when we start complaining and saying “Lord, will we have food to eat tomorrow? Lord, I can’t see the way forward. Lord, I can’t see how I am going to supply for my family”. He has never let us down.

The sun is going to come up this morning like it always has done.

And the moon is shining to the faithfulness of God, even today.

The faithful witness in the sky at night.

God will not disappoint you.

God will not allow you to go hungry and your family to starve because He is a good God and He is for you and He is not against you.

What does He require from you and I?

One simple word, “faith” to believe that our Lord is more than able to supply all of our needs and more than what we need so that we can give to others so that they can glorify Him.

I think you will find that in 2 Corinthians 9 and verse 8, the very scripture that God gave to Jill and I when we started serving Him. He has always supplied our needs and He always will.
