Largest day of prayer in Cape Town’s history

“During my quiet time a few months ago, the Lord impressed very strongly on my heart that we need to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Mitchells Plain.” These are the words of Angus Buchan, the founder of the It’s Time event. Buchan believes that God put a tremendous burden on his heart for the lost and for those who are down in spirit and in heart, for those who are caught up in gangsterism and in the senseless disregard for human life that is a daily occurrence on the Cape Flats.

Buchan, who led the largest prayer gathering in the history of South Africa on 22 April 2017 in Bloemfontein, received a vision from God at the end of last year to organise a similar prayer gathering in the heart of the Cape Flats. Swartklip Sports Field, Mitchells Plain.

The It’s Time Cape Town prayer gathering will take place on Saturday, 24 March 2018, at the Swartklip Sports Field in Mitchells Plain. It will be a day event from 10:00 to 14:00. Gates will open at 06:00 and Buchan is expected to address the gathering from 12:00 onwards. The gathering should conclude by 14:00.

Water

Only toilet facilities will be provided. All those attending must bring their own food and water. Strict measures will be in place to ensure that no municipal water is used. Water will be brought in from other parts of South Africa and all visitors are requested to bring their own drinking water, chairs, food and sunblock. Parents with small children are advised to write their cellphone number on the arm of their child. No gazebos, beach umbrellas or drones will be allowed.

Cost and traffic

The event will be FREE and there will be no form of commercialism. FREE parking tickets with special routes to the venue and parking spaces are available from www.itickets.co.za. This will be the biggest mass gathering in the history of Cape Town. Visitors are encouraged to make use of buses to ensure as little traffic disruptions as possible and to assist with parking. The Golden Arrow Bus Service agreed to make all buses available at cost price for the gathering.

Safety and security

More than 2 000 volunteers will assist security companies, the Metro Police, and South African Police Service on the day. All visitors will receive clear directions to specially allocated parking bays. Arrangements with local schools and organisations in the area have been made. All parking bays are within a 5 km radius of the venue.

According to Buchan, nobody can afford to miss out on the event, as it will be an historical moment. “I am excited like never before for our beloved country and I believe that the It’s Time Cape Town event will be a light that will shine, not just over the continent of Africa, but over the whole world,” says Buchan.

Keep up to date by following It’s Time on these social media platforms:

Although we have said this many times and will continue to do so; we would like to emphasise, for your own security, that no-one at Shalom Ministries, or Angus Buchan himself, will ever ask for donations or money from you. Never!

That said, we do understand that God may put it on your heart to support the ministry through a financial blessing.

VOLUNTEERS

If you would like to volunteer please fill out the form below.

It is not possible to successfully execute an event of this magnitude without the dedicated collective effort of like-minded volunteers. Your willingness to volunteer your time at this meeting will not only be greatly appreciated, but will most certainly have a positive impact on your life.

These are the areas of service for which volunteers are required:

General Safety and Security | Traffic Control and Parking | Flagmen | Hosts | General Info

This initiative demands sufficient manpower in all of the above areas for the hours of service, which will be for a full day on the 24th of March. No formal qualification is needed, only a heart to serve. There will be training of all volunteers before the event and a time, venue and date will be communicated shortly.
